  About the Department 


Production of metals, materials and industrial parts in the development and progress of the country and in order to expand the knowledge and engineering techniques of metallurgy and materials at the level of higher education after reviewing priorities according to the needs of the country's industry and using previous experiences and studying programs This field of engineering has been compiled in universities outside the undergraduate course of metallurgical and materials engineering with the following specifications in the technical and engineering group of the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Planning Committee.


Capacity of materials engineering and metallurgy in choosing mathematics

According to the selection booklet for the Mathematics Entrance Examination, the total capacity of the Materials Engineering and Metallurgy field in the selection of the field of national universities last year (96-95 academic year) was 3741 people. In the daily period, the admission capacity was 1798 people, in the second shift period (overnight) 493 people, in the Payame Noor period 490 people, in the virtual government period 120 people and in the non-profit period the admission capacity of materials engineering and metallurgy was 840 people. On the other hand, the capacity of the Department of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy of the Azad University is not known and the Azad University did not have accurate information in this regard. In the table below, the capacity of the field of materials engineering and metallurgy in the national entrance examination is specified separately for each course.


Materials engineering and science is an interdisciplinary field in which the relationship between the structure and properties of materials is examined in order to design new materials to meet the growing needs of materials technology. Today, with the increase of research in the field of nanotechnology, materials engineering has become one of the leading disciplines in the field of knowledge. In short, a materials engineer first identifies and examines the microscopic structure of various materials using a scanning electron microscope, a transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, or similar methods and equipment. In the next step, the different properties of the materials are measured to learn how to produce new materials or improve the properties of previous materials.
